2021-2023
Allez, allez, allez!
I owe my Liverpool fandom to two things. One, Ted Lasso, which got me into the sport to begin with. And two, college and FIFA 09, which saw me always choosing Liverpool so I could fire bombs from 30 yards with Stevie Gerrard.
When the pandemic rolled around, my wife and I decided to get into the other sport of football and I haven’t looked back. I’ve had some up and down seasons as a Liverpool fan, but I do my best to tune in wherever I happen to be in the world (except for the games that start before about 6 am).
Throughout the last few seasons, I’ve made a few posters to celebrate the team using a mix of illustration, photos and hand lettering/typography.
Seven-Nil Poster
Seven-Nil. Still hard to believe this happened. And against Liverpool’s biggest rival too. And some record-breaking goals from Mo Salah. Was on a high after this game, before immediately losing to relegation-bound Bournemouth the following weekend. But that can’t take away from what was probably the most fun Liverpool game I’ve watched as a fan. Liverpool FC 7, Man United 0.
Liverpool FC 2022 Season Posters
Leading up to the 2021-22 season, I was very excited for my first full season as a fan, and hopefully one without an injury crisis like the one before. The Reds came two games from winning four trophies (which was amazing, but also very sad), and these are the trophies I made at beginning of the season.
Liverpool FC Champions League Poster
My first introduction to Real Madrid and the voodoo that they seem to have over Liverpool. Here’s a gameday poster leading up to the Reds’ meeting in the 2021 quarterfinals with the team they can’t seem to crack.
